Paramus Police Respond To 'Suspicious Package' On Route 17

The package turned out to be electrical equipment that fell off a vehicle, authorities said.

PARAMUS, N.J. — Borough police responded to a "suspicious package" on Route 17 Monday morning, authorities said.

The "package," which was on Route 17 South, turned out to be electrical equipment, said Anthony Cureton, Bergen County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Cureton said Paramus police officers responded to the scene. Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg could not be immediately reached for comment.

Traffic kept moving, but there were delays on Route 17 in both directions near Route 4 Monday morning due to volume, 511nj.org reported.
