Paramus Principal Wins National Leadership Award
Stony Lane School Principal Tom Marshall won the 2017 Innovative Leadership Award from the National Council of Teachers of English

Tom Marshall, principal of Stony Lane Elementary School in Paramus, was recently presented with the 2017 Innovative Leadership Award by the National Council of Teachers of English. The award, according to the NCTE, "recognizes an early- or mid-career leader and NCTE member who has shown innovative leadership at the local, regional, and/or national level or for innovative approaches to teaching and/or professional development through new and progressive methods and delivery models."
In addition to serving as the principal of Stony Lane, Marshall conducts staff development and writes literacy curriculum for the Paramus Public Schools for both third and fourth grade, teaches after school workshops, leads a course for literacy coaches, and coordinates the Littogether Teacher Leader Project. Marshall is also the founder of the New Jersey Literacy Leaders' Network, a group of about 150 principals from all over Northern and Central New Jersey who, according to his blog, "want to study together ways in which to support and supervise good teaching and learning in reading and writing."
Marshall also has an upcoming book he authored on instructional leadership.
