PHS Girls Basketball Team Wins State Game
The Spartans defeated Lakeland 50-34 in the opening round of the North 1, Group 3 State Tournament.

The Paramus Spartan girls basketball team defeated No. 3 Lakeland 50-34 in the first round of the North 1, Group 3 State Tournament on Tuesday in Wanaque.
"They key component to the game was our defense," head coach Vic DiPasquale said. "We limited their inside looks."
The 14th-seeded Spartans limited Lakeland star Kimmy Bachmann to only 10 points.

"Offensively, we spread the ball around," DiPasquale said. "We made some early shots, took the lead and never looked back."
DiPasquale added that the win was a "total team effort".

Kristina Meier recorded a double-double (17 points, 14 rebounds) and dished out five assists and recording five steals.
Brittany Stone scored 18 points, hitting three treys, and pulled down six rebounds.
Stephanie Huang scored five points, and came up with five blocks.
Jill Herb scored a career-high six points.
"This is what we need at this stage in the season," said DiPasquale, a 1983 graduate of .
DiPasquale added that the team needs the same type of effort against their next opponent, Northern Highlands, who the Spartans face on Thursday.
