Police Find 1 Kilogram Of Heroin Worth $100,000 During Rt. 4 Traffic Stop: Prosecutor

PARAMUS, N.J. — A North Carolina man was arrested after police found a kilogram of suspected heroin in his vehicle during a traffic stop Sunday, authorities said.
Law enforcement personnel stopped the vehicle Ramon Serna, 38, was in on Route 4 westbound for "investigative purposes," said Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.
During a search of the vehicle, police found about one kilogram of suspected heroin in a bag belonging to Serna, the prosecutor said.

The heroin had a street value of about $100,000, Grewal said.
Serna was arrested and taken to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office for further investigation, the prosecutor said.

Serna was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, namely heroin, in a quantity of first-degree crime, Grewal said.
Serna's bail was set at $150,000 with no 10 percent option and he was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail, authorities said.
