WHO: Bergen County and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) invite members of the public to review and comment on the plans.

Those who can’t make the open house can learn about the project by visiting www.centralbergenbikewalk.com.

WHEN: April, 16, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm

WHERE: Elmwood Park Recreation Center, 500 Boulevard (corner of Market Street), Elmwood Park, NJ

Background: Bergen County, in cooperation with the NJTPA, has been developing the Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans for eight municipalities in the Central Bergen area over the past year. The plans identify safety and mobility improvements necessary to encourage more walking and bicycling to and from major destinations in the area. The plans have been prepared to assist the county and municipalities in targeting investment in walking and biking infrastructure at locations along a network of roads that provide access to public destinations such as schools, parks, downtowns, malls and employment centers. Examples of the types of improvements proposed include the addition of sidewalks, crosswalks, pedestrian signals, bike lanes, and shared lane markings. The plans are scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2015.
