Socktober at East Brook Helps Those in Need

Students and staff collect nearly 160 pairs of socks and toiletries for the Center for Food Action

In October, an advisory group at East Brook Middle School in Paramus set out to prove that even a small act of love, such as donating a pair of socks, could make big a difference in the lives of their neighbors who are in need.

The East Brook Student Council decided to sponsor a Socktober Drive. The drive was inspired by a video from Kid President, who helps promote Socktober, originally created by Brad Montague in Tennessee. Socktober encourages people to collect socks and other personal items for those who need them. Students and staff at East Brook donated 159 pairs of socks and hygiene products to the Center for Food Action, which serves those in need in northern New Jersey.
