Town Hall Series Wednesday Continues The Fight Against Opioid Abuse

The Knock Out Opioid Abuse series​ focuses on the issues of prescription drug dependency and heroin abuse.

PARAMUS, NJ — A statewide town hall series designed to help end the opioid epidemic sweeping the nation is coming to Bergen County Wednesday.

The Knock Out Opioid Abuse series focuses on the issues of prescription drug dependency and heroin abuse. The series is presented by the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey.

The town hall will be at Bergen Community College's Tech Center May 31 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Gurbir Grewal, Bergen County prosecutor, Samantha Harries, director of the Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources and Sue Marchese-Debiak, director of the county Division of Addiction Services will speak at the meeting.

Hundreds of local prevention and treatment organizations, local and county law enforcement agencies and government and medical community leaders have collaborated on the series.

There were 87 opioid overdose deaths last year in Bergen County and 308 reported overall.
