U.S. Chamber Of Commerce Endorses Rep. Gottheimer For Re-Election

Gottheimer, a first-term congressman from Wyckoff, fought to restore the State and Local Tax Deduction.

PARAMUS, NJ — Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) received the endorsement of the United States Chamber of Commerce Monday.

Gottheimer received the endorsement based on his record of working with both Republicans and Democrats to bring jobs back to New Jersey's Fifth Congressional District. The announcement was made at the new iFLY facility in Paramus, which opened earlier this year.

“He has the ability to win, he also has the courage to govern and get big things done. He’s also well respected in both parties. As we’ve lost the middle in Congress, we have leaders like Josh Gottheimer who are willing to go and embrace the middle," said Rob Engstrom, the chamber's vice president and national political director. "That’s really the tradition in our country when you think about the big things that have gotten done, people who have the courage to reach across the aisle."

Gottheimer is co-chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, a 48-member group of congressional representatives that works to find common ground on tough issues facing the country.

Gottheimer fought to restore the State and Local Tax Deduction to New Jerseyans, worked to secure bipartisan funding for the Gateway Project, and is a member of the House Financial Services Committee.

“When we talk about lowering taxes, creating jobs, supporting workers and helping Main Street thrive, what it really comes down to is building strong communities and strong families,” said Gottheimer. “To me, there’s nothing that says Jersey Values better than that.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business organization. It represents the interests of more than 3 million businesses nationwide. It is the second significant endorsement Gottheimer, a first-term congressman, has received since announcing his bid for re-election.
