It was proactive and collaborative police work that led to the decrease, said Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg. This includes participation in the New Jersey Corr-Stat program and the Real Time Crime Center. They involve partnerships between various state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies and business partners designed to reduce crime.

The Corr-Stat region includes 80 municipalities along the Route 21 corridor in northeast New Jersey, including Paterson and Newark.
