Woman Steals $24,000 In Victoria's Secret Lingerie, Bras From Garden State Plaza: Police

Pennsylvania woman had allegedly been stealing the merchandise since August, police said.

PARAMUS, NJ - An alleged serial shoplifter stole $24,000 worth of merchandise from Victoria's Secret for eight months before police finally arrested her on Wednesday, authorities said.

Cynthia Roman, 39, of Tobyhanna, Pa., was charged with nine counts of theft after police arrested her Wednesday.

Paramus police detectives Norman Gin and Christopher Zuck had been investigating large quantities of thefts from the Garden State Plaza store since August 2015, said Deputy Chief Robert M. Guidetti.

Gin and Zuck shared a woman's description with mall security personnel and Victoria Secret store employees, Guidetti said.

Employees helped police identify Roman in January as the person who allegedly stole the items, Guidetti said; they saw Roman in the store on Wednesday at 5:25 p.m.

Gin and Zuck arrested Roman, charging her with nine counts of theft, Guidetti said.

Roman signed criminal complaints for theft of the merchandise and she was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on $75,000 bail with no 10 percent option, police said.
