1-Point Overtime Win Takes Title in Duel of Parsippany Basketball Squads

Blue meets white in matchup for the seventh grade league championship.

With so much talent, and even more heart, it’s sad a loser must be named.

But just as importantly, a winner must also be crowned.

Such was the case when the Parsippany Warriors of the west side took on the Parsippany Warriors of the east side for a shot at the 7th Grade Division title.

The blue team, led by coach Steve Badian, took a 12-point lead early in the fourth quarter against the white team, coached by Patty Devens, but it didn’t hold up.

The white team’s Luke Kachulis erupted in the final frame of regulation to get his team back into the game and forced overtime.

Blue was able to grab a lead and hold it in the extra period, winning 54-53 and ultimately being crowned champions.

Kachulis led White with 27 points and was named his team’s Most Valuable Player, while Angelo Vacardipane scored 20 for the blue team, while his teammate Dennis Wilson was named MVP.

Each team claimed seven different players who scored in the contest.
