10 Residents Seeking Votes in June Primary for Parsippany Council
Six Republicans, four democrats throw hats in the ring.

Election season is here, and in Parsippany, it’s a crowded field.
The deadline to submit an application to be placed on the June Primary Election ballot came and went Monday afternoon, and as a result, a total of 10 residents put their hats in the ring.
There are three council seats up for grabs, belonging to current Council President Paul Carifi, Councilman Michael dePierro, and Councilman Brian Stanton.

Stanton is not running for re-election, and Carifi and dePierro have created three-person teams to campaign.
Carifi announced his campaign for re-election at the beginning of March and that he was running alongside newcomers Aida Visakay and John Beehler. dePierro announced his re-election bid by joining forces with Loretta Gragnani and former councilman Vincent Ferrara.

The current council, as well as Mayor James Barberio, is entirely Republican. The Primary Election will result in top three vote-getters from the Republican side, and the top three vote-getters from the Democrat side.
Those six winners will square off in the November General Election with the top three vote-getters winning four-year seats on the council beginning in 2016.
Anyone looking to run as an Independent in the General Election has until the end of the Primary Election to submit his or her name.
The Primary is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
