The Halloween spirit is starting to fill Morris County, and there are many ways to celebrate a week early.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The Halloween spirit is starting to fill Morris County, and that's reflected in this weekend's slate of activities. Here are five things to do this weekend.

Grand Opening of Anita's Baked Wonders

Anita's Baked Wonders, an Argentinian Empanada business, will celebrate its grand opening from 4-6 p.m. Friday at 54 Broadway, Florham Park. Patrons who stop by can sample some of the empanadas. Click here for more info.

Pumpkin Illumination

The pumpkin illumination on the Vail Mansion Lawn in Morristown returns Sunday. Guests are encouraged to bring their carved pumpkins to light at dusk.

The schedule:

  • 5 p.m. Bring your carved pumpkin to the reflecting pond in front of the Vail Mansion in Morristown. Enjoy live jazz by Alex Lazzari Quartet.
  • 5:30-6:15 p.m. Art Workshop with artist Dan Fenelon followed by a luminary parade led by Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty.
  • 6:15 p.m. Pumpkin Illumination! Lighting of the pumpkins.

Fort Nonsense Rededication

Fort Nonsense closed for several months amid different renovations. Now, the historic site is back and ready to celebrate at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The historic site's recently completed upgrades as part of the park's $1.4 million Roadways Project include a roadway and parking area pavement rehabilitation project, drainage improvements, replacement of the roadway's timber guardrail, replacement of metal gates, new pavement striping and new-and-improved traffic control signage. Family Fall Festival

Sunrise of Mountain Lakes will celebrate its first Family Fall Festival, benefitting the NJ Alzheimer's Assocation. Activities will include pumpkin picking, kid's face painting, pumpkin painting and games. The event is free to attend. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Sunrise of Mountain Lakes (23 Bloomfield Ave.). Find out more here.

Fall Festivities at Alstede Farms

Alstede Farms's fall activities range from harvest moon hayrides to a nighttime corn maze. Delight in pumpkin picking, live entertainment, fresh cider and more. Events will run from 6-10 p.m. Saturday. Find more info here.
