Aiding Ukraine From Morris County: 8 Local Efforts To Help Those In Need
From farms to larger organizations to former Morris County residents in Ukraine, there are plenty of ways to assist.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The war in Ukraine may feel far away, but plenty around the world have wondered how they can help. From farms to larger organizations, there are several Morris County groups assisting people during the Russian invasion.
Here are eight ways to help, connecting Morris County to Ukrainians in need.
Former Morristown Resident in Chernigov

Aliza Silberstein used to live in Morristown. Now she lives in Chernigov, Ukraine, where she's staying with her 10 young children to help the community.
"We're hanging out in the basement, together with some other people," Silberstein wrote Sunday on Facebook. "We feel lucky that we have a safe spot right in our house."

A GoFundMe is helping the Jewish community in Chernigov, including Silberstein and her family.
"Rabbi Yisrael and Aliza Silberstein, their ten young children, and their dear community members are in the direct line of fire," the GoFundMe says. "They have taken refuge from missile attacks with two secure locations providing food and alternative sources of heat /power."

Cedar Gate Farm
Cedar Gate Farm (104 Parks Rd., Denville) will accept donations through Sunday to support Ukraine. Doors will remain open daily until dark. See the supplies requested below:
Ukrainian American Organization's Collection Drive
The Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey, located in Whippany, will hold a humanitarian-aid drive to help victims of the war. The collection will take place from 12-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with several high-priority items requested.

Ukrainian National Association
The Ukrainian National Association in Parsippany specializes in life insurance products. But in recent days, the group has taken a different focus.
Scroll down a bit on the association's website homepage, and you'll find a list of resources to help Ukraine, including donation links and resources for refugees.
Morristown United Methodist Church
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has prompted calls for humanitarian action from the United Methodist community, especially with denomination members in harm's way. United Methodists in Ukraine have opened churches as shelters, according to a post on Morristown United Methodist Church's website.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief is discussing with partners how to mount a humanitarian response. In the meantime, organizers have suggested several organizations to which people can donate, including the United Methodist Committee on Relief’s International Disaster Response and Recovery. Jewish Federation of MetroWest New Jersey
The Whippany-based federation took quick action to help Jews in Ukraine. Its board of trustees held an emergency session to vote on a special allocation for the organization's partners in the nation, putting forth $500,000 initially.
But there's still a need for help. Click here to donate to the federation's Ukraine emergency fund.
Egg Sales to Help Ukrainians
Moti Kahana is off to their parents' hometown in Romania to set up a camp for Ukrainian refugees. Meanwhile, all proceeds from egg sales from the farm during March will help shelter the nation's refugees in Romania.
Kahana Farm is located at 1 Kahana Rd., Randolph.
Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA
Over in Somerset County, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA is raising funds for the Ukrainians. The church as raised $134,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.
