Another COVID-19 Death In NJ Psych Facilities As Infections Rise

NEW JERSEY - Another life was claimed by the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, in state psychiatric facility since last week, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. And so are the patient and staff infections.

Across the state, there are 1,227 patients split among several facilities and 209 patients tested positive, an increase of 19 from last week. In New Jersey there are 471 staff members COVID-19 positive as of Monday, an increase of 15 over last week. Greystone Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains, Parsippany has the highest number of COVID-19 deaths per facility, with five since the outbreak. There have been 13 patient deaths across New Jersey in these facilities and seven staff deaths, according to officials.

Ancora Psychiatric Center also has the highest number of patient outbreaks with 88 while Trenton Psychiatric Hospital has the highest number of staff positives at 233.

Greystone Psychiatric Hospital

• Total Positive Patients: 58 (an increase of three)
• Total Positive Staff: 116 (an increase of two)
• Total Patient Deaths: 5
• Current Patient Census: 339 (an increase of one)

Ancora Psychiatric Center

• Total Positive Patients: 88 (an increase of nine)
• Total Positive Staff: 88 (an increase of six)
• Total Patient Deaths: 4 (an increase of one)
• Current Patient Census: 375 (a decrease of nine)

Ann Klein Forensic Center

• Total Positive Patients: 17 (and increase of one)
• Total Positive Staff: 29 (an increase of two)
• Total Patient Deaths: 0
• Current Patient Census: 179

Trenton Psychiatric Hospital

• Total Positive Patients: 46 (an increase of six)
• Total Positive Staff: 238 (an increase of 5)
• Total Patient Deaths: 4
• Current Patient Census: 336 (a decrease of two)
