Aunt Jemima Breakfast Foods Recalled For Listeria

A New Jersey-based food company is recalling Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes, waffles and French toast because they might be contaminated with a bacteria that can make people sick.

Pinnacle Foods Inc. of Parsippany is voluntarily recalling all “Best By” dates of Aunt Jemima frozen pancakes, waffles and frozen French toast slices distributed in New Jersey and across the United States, according to a company press release.

They have been recalled because the frozen foods have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported.

The products are being recalled as a precautionary measure given that the "health and safety of our consumers is our top priority," according to the release.

Pinnacle Foods initiated the recall after testing indicated the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the plant environment used as ingredients in the food. "We are working in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on this recall," the company said.

All affected distributors and retail and food service customers are being notified, and the affected products are being removed from store shelves, the release said.

This announcement applies only to the Aunt Jemima frozen products listed below and does not include any Aunt Jemima dry mixes and syrups.
