Major Highway Ramp In Parsippany To Close Again: See Details
The overnight closures in Parsippany come as crews continue work on an $8.5 million bridge maintenance project.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — A major highway ramp in Parsippany will close for two nights this week as crews continue bridge painting work, state transportation officials announced.
The Interstate 280 westbound ramp to Interstate 287 and Route 46 in Parsippany will be closed and detoured Thursday and Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).
The closures are a continuation of work that began last week and are necessary for crews to paint the I-80 eastbound bridge over I-280 and Route 46, officials said.

During the closures, motorists traveling on I-280 westbound toward Route 46 or I-287 will be directed onto I-80 westbound Express.
Drivers heading to Route 46 will follow signs for Exits 42A-B/Route 202/Route 46, take Exit 42A toward Route 202/I-80 eastbound, cross over I-80 and take the ramp to I-80 eastbound. From there, drivers will exit onto Route 202 northbound and turn left onto Smith Road to reach Route 46 eastbound or westbound.

Drivers heading to I-287 will follow the same initial detour onto I-80 westbound Express and Exit 42A before returning to I-80 eastbound. They will then take Exit 43 for I-287, staying left for I-287 northbound or right for I-287 southbound.
The closures are part of an $8.5 million federally funded project to repaint 10 bridges along I-80 in Morris and Bergen counties.
According to NJDOT, preventative maintenance such as bridge painting helps protect steel structures from deterioration, keep bridges in good condition, and extend their operational lifespan.
The exact timing of the closures may change depending on weather or other factors.
