PARSIPPANY, NJ — Emergency repairs in Parsippany will likely cause heavy congestion on I-80, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Repairs will begin at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday on the bridge over the Rockaway River.

Officials will close the left and center lanes on the eastbound side. The side will also be closed after Exit 47B/Route 46.

At least one lane will remain open during construction. The closure will allow NJDOT's contractor, Mount Construction, to remove loose concrete and reconstruct a portion of the bridge deck.

Officials expect lane closures to continue through late Thursday night.

Drivers should consider using Route 46 instead, NJDOT said. The agency encouraged drivers to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
