COVID-19 Deaths, Infections Keep Rising In NJ Psych Facilities

NEW JERSEY - The number of new coronavirus, or COVID-19, positives are growing in psychiatric hospitals around the state according to the New Jersey Department of Health. And so are the deaths.

Across the state, there are 1,237 patients split among several facilities and 190 patients tested positive. In New Jersey there are 456 staff members COVID-19 positive as of Monday. Greystone Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains, Parsippany has the highest number of COVID-19 deaths per facility, with five since the outbreak. There have been 12 patient deaths across New Jersey in these facilities, according to officials. Ancora Psychiatric Center lost two patients since last week, bringing their total to three. Greystone Psychiatric Hospital still has the high mark for patient deaths with five.

Ancora Psychiatric Center also has the highest number of patient outbreaks with 79 while Trenton Psychiatric Hospital has the highest number of staff positives at 233.

Ancora Psychiatric Center

Total Positive Patients: 79 (an increase of 13)
Total Positive Staff: 82
Total Patient Deaths: 3 (an increase of two)
Current Patient Census: 384

Ann Klein Forensic Center

Total Positive Patients: 16
Total Positive Staff: 27 (an increase of five)
Total Patient Deaths: 0
Current Patient Census: 179

Trenton Psychiatric Hospital

Total Positive Patients: 40 (an increase of two)
Total Positive Staff: 233 (an increase of 15)
Total Patient Deaths: 4
Current Patient Census: 338
