Day Pitney Hosts 2017 Lex Mundi Health Care And Life Sciences Practice Group Global Meeting

Day Pitney recently hosted the 2017 Lex Mundi Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Group Global Meeting at the firm's Parsippany, New Jersey office.

Day Pitney Partners Thomas A. Zalewski, Jonathan E. Davis and Lori J. Braender participated on panels during the meeting, which brought together Lex Mundi Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Group lawyers and clients from around the world. Attendees had the opportunity to network, discuss legal trends and issues, and explore business development opportunities.

Day Pitney is among 10 Lex Mundi member firms from around the world that participated in the panel discussions relating to health care and life sciences practices. Topics discussed included the post-election outlook for health care and life sciences industries; privacy, data breach and cybersecurity issues in health care and life sciences; cross-border transactions; and new business models.

The meeting's sessions covered pressing health care and life sciences law issues in international practice. The first session, "Post-Election Outlook for Health Care and Life Sciences Industries," was presented by Ed Silverman, senior writer and Pharmalot Columnist for STAT, who discussed the post-election outlook for the healthcare and life sciences industries, including FDA issues, new legislation, drug pricing and other industry challenges.

Other featured speakers during the two-day meeting on January 26 -27 included Ed Sturchio, Global General Counsel, Advanced Accelerator Applications and Matthew Berkle, Associate General Counsel, Kedrion Biopharma Inc., who discussed health care and life sciences trends that impact their roles and how in-house deal teams are utilizing external counsel and other advisors in the current environment; and a senior in-house global counsel for a major pharmaceutical company, who discussed cross-border transactions.
