Despite Heated School Board Race, Voter Turnout Low in Parsippany

One incumbent, two challengers claim three-year seats on board of education.

There were six residents to choose from and only three could win, but even with such a heavily-contested race for open seats on the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Board of Education, voter turnout was lower than the county average.

With just 10,357 of the township’s 32,454 registered voters hitting the polls Tuesday (without provisionals, according to the county clerk’s office), the township showed a 31.9-percent turnout, down from the county average of 36-percent.

There were six names on the ballot for three, three-year seats on the board of education. One incumbent, Timothy Berrios, was re-elected, followed by two challengers, Andrew Choffo and George Blair.
