Developers Fairy Tales Come True in Parsippany. Making Our Next Disaster Emergency are you Ready Par-Troy?

Executive power of a Mayor goes off the reservation. Private concerns over public welfare and environmental sense. Residents don't Count.

Developers Fairy Tale; Mayors Executive Power Gone Off the Reservation.

When you listen to the jargon from the Planning Board especially their attorney, it is impossible to tell the difference between our town’s interest and the developer in this case RD. Their avocation for the private interest of “economic concern” is overwhelmingly opposed to the public welfare and environmental values. Once they start emphasizing economic conditions and market falls in land use, they are in the pockets of the private economic concern, rather than their public oath to the community and residents. When the dialogue goes into jobs, and creating jobs, the game is up. Where does it say, that a Mayor has the “executive power” to stimulate the job market, which power lies elsewhere, and in doing so he betrays the community and the residents, in degrading their quality of life and sense of home in favor of the private interest. The mayor’s job, if anything is to make sure municipal employees do their jobs. Apparently the word executive has gone to our Mayor’s head. When a public official undermine and cherry picks parts of his own municipal master plan, or creates and allows one that openly sides with private outside economic forces, then there is no sense of security, or welfare found in such a master plan. Rejecting regional planning which would amend much of this private dominance to the level of proper balance, actual need and transparency including legal protections from such insensitive corporate developers like RD, then we have a total coup de grace of any real democracy at a grass roots level.

Waterview was such a demonstration of this American grass roots action that any honorable executive would have done his job according to the public duty and trust. The Mayor even at the council no-vote suddenly changed and mind and stated in front of hundred he would have the Waterview landscape as open space, well within his executive power under home rule, he lied. The opportunity was there, Bell Mead still the real property owner had the landscape zoned as under the farm bill, opportunities for fair market value were ripe. The mayor neither activated the open space committee, nor the environmental committee. The inherit natural resource character itself; of Waterview landscape would of won the argument in favor of the town, as a consistency, and land use capability maps would of shown. The mayor continued to work in favor of the private interest RD; which are still not the property owner.

So who supported RD the pending owner and developer, not Bell Mead, but Parsippany, despite overwhelming opposition of hundreds? Can we now even trust what is about to take place? No actual legal reasons have been put forth to justify rezoning as it should relate to any community, actual need, not speculative fantasy, change in character demonstrated by maps and testimony, of the immediate neighborhood, or proof of the old zoning and why exactly it was zoned that way, including maps; funny how this POD district was planned out and deemed compatible because of its location in the Troy Brook watershed, which directly affects the flood prone areas, Whippany River and the Troy Meadows. This important biodiversity will be erased. (POD zone was only area in Parsippany with FAR Ordinance, floor area requirement, because of the environmentally sensitive area.)

We have here in Parsippany not civic, or even common law, but developers deals being made into local ordinances a subterfuge from under. We have not science, as science was involved in making the former POD zone. The conditions of the Troy Brook Watershed have not change and if anything have suffered more accumulative impacts, of which this deal will only exasperate.

The $3.5 million in open space for a buffer called open space, which any decent corporation would have dedicated is any form of robbery of open space funds; rejected by the county for good cause Parsippany will now Paul, as he could not rob Peter.; unjustly enriching an already rich corporate at the expense of Parsippany tax-payers. This Citizens, is a violation of fundamental Anglo-American common law. We need a change, and I don’t mean other faces in the same places.

We are influenced and in direct collusion with private economic concerns against our own residents and Parsippany natural resources, the balance has already be tipped, now the ship starts to sink. It’s all part of a developers fairy tale come true at your expense and loss of home. Ad fear of public housing obligations turned into a convenient tool of extortion used by the developer as his allies in the administration, and the fairy tale is complete, as public housing developers remedy has not been worked out as on now, and will surely not be draconian or represent poor land use , smart growth principals or environmental factors. This unneeded, RC zone is a clear act of deliberate deception most likely illegality and subversion of possible outcomes entitled to the public. By what right can a municipality claim financial distress, in order to destroy its own neighborhoods and community? Once upon a time there was a place called Pa-sippo-nong; ruined by its own false pride and passion for progress without compassion for its own life; a place where people were not allowed to see the forest for the tree.

From fields of dreams artificial turf no vote to the playing field of over $2.5 million, to the $3.5 million of open space dedication money given to RD, Forge Pond in the Balance, UPS Office Complex amid empty office space, abandoned malls, to Greystone’s Loss of History; our taxes go so developers fairy tales can come true. Superpacs destroy grassroots democracy. Divided we fall..

Happy Holidays
