Competing for over $170,000 were more than 9000 bright American high school students part of the FBLA organization. These students traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to meet and connect with other members, and compete for their corresponding events.
From June 29 - July 2, the FBLA National Leadership Conference took place in Atlanta. Contestants from all over the country attended this conference, and competed in more than 65 events. These events are business/career related, and consist of fields such as finance, computer science, management, and many more.
From Parsippany Hills High School, Rahul Shah gained national recognition at the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program on July 2. Competing in Desktop Application Programming, Shah won 7th place in the nation. This event tests skills in programming, more specifically how to design a useful, and effective program. These awards recognize excellence in a variety of events and careers. Parsippany Hills High School had 15 competitors who attended the conference.
At the conference, students also attended interactive workshops, listened to motivational speakers, and gained valuable information from exhibit halls. From Parsippany Hills High School, Vanessa Ting was elected as National Secretary. She will oversee more than 200,000 members of FBLA this year, across the nation. Vanessa was also National Parliamentarian last year, making this the first time ever where an FBLA National Officer from New Jersey has served two terms.
