GOP Officials Announce Intention To Seek Reelection
District 25's Bucco, Bergen and Dunn will run again in November as "commonsense taxpayer advocates," claiming overwhelming party support.
ROCKAWAY, NJ —Three incumbent Republican politicians from the 25th Legislative District announced their intention to seek reelection for state office in November, according a Feb. 4 news release.
State Sen. Tony Bucco (R-Boonton), Assemblyman Brian Bergen (R-Denville) and Assemblywoman Aura Dunn (R-Mendham) said they will run again as "commonsense taxpayer advocates in Trenton." The trio claims to have support "from nearly all county Republican leader, mayors and local party chairs across the 25th Legislative District," and said endorsements are in progress.
The District 25 team said it will focus on fighting tax-and-spend culture in Trenton, demand greater accountability and transparency from the administration of Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, advocate for small businesses and help rebuild after the coronavirus pandemic.

Bucco and Dunn each successfully stood in a special election last fall, and Bucco said in the release the ticket of him, Dunn and Bergen has proven it can raise money, win votes and build a bipartisan brand in a suburban district.
"Last fall's election demonstrated that we can build a winning coalition when we hold Trenton Democrats accountable for their tax-spend-borrow agenda, balanced with our bipartisan results for residents when it's needed most," Bucco said.

Bucco added: "Throughout the pandemic, we've shown that good government works. We helped 2,000 struggling families resolve their unemployment issues, secured meals and PPE for long-term care facilities, group homes and first responders in the scary early days of the pandemic and continue to fight for Main Street businesses."
In 2019, Bucco moved from the Assembly to the Senate when he was appointed to fill the seat of his late father Sen. Anthony R. Bucco. Dunn was appointed to replace the younger Bucco in the Assembly.
In November 2021, Bucco will be running in his third straight general election, Dunn will be seeking a full two-year term and Bergen will be running for reelection for the first time.
According to the release, Morris County Sheriff Jim Gannon tops the list of officials endorsing the team of incumbents.
"Tony, Brian and Aura are the right team working to keep New Jersey affordable, our communities safe and delivering the resources necessary to fight the virus," Gannon said. "We are lucky to have them fighting on our behalf, and I'm proud to stand with them in the months ahead."
