Hanover Bridge Repair Could Cause Headaches For Morris County Drivers
The project, expected to take ten months, could cause delays near the heavily used bridge.
HANOVER, NJ — Repairs on a deteriorating but heavily used bridge are set to begin on Thursday in Hanover, something that could cause delays for drivers.
The bridge on Ridgedale Avenue near Fredrick Place in Hanover is on a route that connects Route 10 and Morristown. Over 24,400 cars pass over the 43 year-old bridge, and it shows. The roadway is cracking and the underside is severely rusted.
The work will be done in four phases so drivers can still use the bridge, but delays are inevitable. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

“This is a project that must be done to ensure the safety of our residents who use that road,’’ said Freeholder John Cesaro, the county governing board’s liaison on county road and bridge work. “It will be an inconvenience to local residents for the coming months, but we will do this work in a phased approach that will allow us to keep the road open. We ask for patience from drivers until we get a new bridge in place."
The project is slated to last 100 calendar days, and will cost $1.3 million, using a combination of county and state funds.
