'Happy' Parsippany High Teacher Nominated As One Who 'Rocks'

Carolina Cabezas among two dozen educators in northern New Jersey nominated for annual award.

Parsippany High School’s teachers rock, and the student body knows it.

But now, for one faculty member, being awesome is paying off.

Spanish teacher and cheerleading coach Carolina Cabezas, a PHS alumna, was nominated by Principal Denis Mulroony for the annual “Teacher Who Rocks” by Greater Media New Jersey, owner of radio stations WDHA and WMTR, according to dailyrecord.com.

Cabezas teaches more than 100 students daily and helped put the school in the limelight earlier this year when teachers and students came together to create a music video to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.”

The video, which was posted on Parsippany Patch, was the brainchild of Cabezas who had students assist her in the production. She spent a weekend editing the music video, which now has more than 30,000 YouTube hits.

All two dozen winners of the “Teachers Who Rock” competition will be honored April 28 at an awards banquet in Livingston.
