Holocaust Hero To Be Honored In Parsippany
The township and spiritual leaders will come together Aug. 1 to honor the memory of Swedish Diplomat Raoul Wallenberg.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The township, in coordination with spiritual leaders, will honor the memory of Swedish Diplomat Raoul Wallenberg at 1 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Raoul Wallenberg Monument in Smith Field. The event will also be live streamed on the township website and facebook page.
Wallenberg served as Sweden's special envoy to Budapest from July to December 1944. During his service as special envoy, Wallenberg issued 10,000 protective passports sheltering and saving Hungarian Jews from Nazi occupiers.
Wallenberg’s birthday is Aug. 4. The township marks the first Sunday of the month as a tribute to his legacy. More than 30 monuments around the world honor Wallenberg, one of which is in Parsippany.
