Identity Of Parsippany Fire Victim Confirmed
The Dec. 29 blaze in the Rutgers Village Apartment complex took the life of a 45-year-old man.
PARSIPPANY, NJ - Officials have confirmed that Gregory Giorgio, 45, was the victim of the fatal fire in Parsippany Dec. 29. Investigators maintain there is no indication that the fire was intentionally set.
The Deputy Chief of Parsippany District #5 Fire Department was in the Rutgers Village Apartment complex when he saw an active fire at 162 Rutgers Lane.
He immediately contacted the Morris County Communications Center via radio and multiple area fire departments were dispatched to the scene, along with EMS, officials said. Lake Hiawatha Fire Department, Parsippany Fire District 4 and Parsippany District 5 Fire Departments were able to contain the fire and knock it down shortly after 1 p.m., officials said.

Chief 5, Deputy 5, Ladder 5, Engine 54, Squad 5, and Utility 5 operated for approximately five hours before clearing the scene and returning to quarters to clean equipment and put apparatus back in service, officials said. Other units on scene included the Morris Plains Fire Department and Parsippany's Rockaway Neck Volunteer First Aid Squad.
