Inspired By Catchy Jingle, Rockaway Toddler Donates Car To Kars4Kids

Most of us have strong feelings about the theme song, but this 5-year-old loves it so much he decided to take action.

ROCKAWAY, NJ— We've all heard the Kars4Kids jingle, an impossible to forget song that forever sears the charity's phone number into your brain (1-877 Kars for Kids, K-A-R-S-- oh, you've heard it). Some of us scramble to turn it off as soon as possible, but for one Rockaway toddler it inspired a charity drive.

Anikan Callie, who is just 5 years old, loves the jingle, singing along whenever it's on. He loves it so much that he started asking his mom if they could donate one of their cars to the charity, his aunt, Lisa Johnson, wrote on a GoFundMe page.

Anikan's mom, Jennifer Callie, said no-- but why not buy a car to donate? Once Anikan reached $350, Callie and Johnson would match it so they'd have enough to purchase one used.

As of Monday evening, the GoFundMe alone has raised $435, surpassing Anikan's original goal (it's no longer accepting donations). The family also placed a collection jar in their home, asking friends and family to donate whatever they could, the Daily Record reported.

Even Kars4Kids employees got in on the donations.

"Hey Anikan I love the commercial too! I work at Kars4Kids and your gofundme page made me feel real good! Thank you!" employee Zahava Snyder wrote, along with a $5 donation.

Chava Klitnick, another employee agreed, donating $10 and writing. "Hey Anikan! What a great idea! I'm an employee and K4K and it is an extremely amazing and selfless place!"

Anikan was able to buy his car over the weekend, and will now donate it to Kars4Kids. Depending on the quality of the car, the charity will either sell it at auction or sell it for parts. Kars4Kids funds a variety of programs, all focused on children.
