Parsippany has many parks and playgrounds to choose from in every neighborhood. It's just one more reason Parsippany is a great place to live.
What bothers me is that it feels like some facilities do not get maintained properly or in a timely manner (this is my opinion only). I play tennis and have noticed very poor lighting for the longest time at the Smith Field Park tennis courts. I cannot remember the last time ALL the lights were working. There are dark spots and players move from one court to another to get better lighting. Parsippany is a town full of hard working individuals and families. Not everyone can play tennis during the day. Having well-lit facilities at night allows residents to enjoy the courts after a long day at work.
I understand that there are more pertinent, neighborhood-altering, taxpayer burdening, community dividing issues that have to be tackled/resolved...all happening during this election season, but please....pay attention to detail and do not ignore the little things.
These courts and playgrounds are the source of future sports champions; a place where two friends can take out a few hours from their busy lives to compete in an epic five set tennis match and then head over to the diner to talk about it; a place where a parent can take their children out to teach them the basics of tennis and the basics of bonding with each other.
With the winter approaching, the tennis courts may not be utilized as much, which may be a good opportunity to "lighten up" and fix things for next spring. While they're at it, maybe all the cracks on the tennis courts can be addressed also!
I hope others feel the same way and can comment on this topic, so that it gets the attention it deserves. Thank you.
