Lightning Topples Tree Onto Moving Cars In Parsippany: Police

The two cars were driving in opposite directions when the tree fell on both of them, police said.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A lightning strike sent a tree falling onto two cars driving in opposite directions on Tabor Road during Tuesday's storm, Parsippany Patrolman Brian Conover told Patch.

Parsippany Patrol Officer R. Taylor was on the road for another call when the lightning struck a tree near the intersection of Tabor Road and Tarn Drive, knocking over a tree. The tree fell onto multiple utility wires and then onto two moving cars: a Kia driving north, and a Subaru driving south.

The driver of the Kia was helped out of the car by Taylor while the driver of the Subaru was able to climb out on their own. Conover said the Kia driver sustained a bump on her head, but refused medical assistance after being checked out by emergency personnel. The Subaru driver was uninjured.
