Longtime Parsippany Resident, Volunteer Dies at 73

Allison Ober gave her time to just about everyone.

Alison Ober spent more than five decades of her life living in the Mt. Tabor section of Parsippany, and giving back for much of the time she was there.

The consummate volunteer died recently at the age of 73.

Born in East Orange and later living in Livingston, Ober moved to Parsippany more than 50 years ago. She was active in the UMC of Mt. Tabor and donated her time as a Sunday school teacher, as well as serving as president of the UMW, trustee for the church and treasurer of the Memorial Fund.

Ober was also active with the Monday Morning Quilters, volunteered at Morristown Medical Center and with the Parsippany Recreation department. She was a Brownie & Girl Scout Leader.

She is survived by her husband, David, of 53 years, one son, three daughters, and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Norman Dean Home for Services on Righter Avenue in Denville. Memorial donations may be made to The Memorial Fund of the UMC of Mt. Tabor, P.O. Box 29, Mt. Tabor, NJ 07878.
