LOVE WEEKEND: Liquid Church To Mobilize 1,600 Volunteers To Serve
Outreach Event from October 19th-21st to Include Renovating a Domestic Violence Shelter, Serving People with Special Needs, and Much More
PARSIPPANY, NJ - October 8th, 2018 – In an effort to help an increasing number of people in need and the local non-profit organizations laboring to serve them, Liquid Church, one of New Jersey’s fastest-growing Christian churches, will mobilize over 1,600 volunteers to “spread the love” through acts of service in communities across New Jersey during its Love Weekend outreach.
“At Liquid Church, we believe one of the best ways to ‘spread the love’ is to serve our neighbors in ways that Jesus would… that’s why during Love Weekend, we’re excited to put our gifts and passions together to help make a difference in our state,” said Tim Lucas, lead pastor and founder of Liquid Church. “During Love Weekend, we’re getting out of our seats and going into our local communities all across New Jersey to help bring joy to kids in foster care, feed the hungry, renovate a domestic violence shelter for women and children, make scarves for our friends on the streets, host a Special Needs Family Festival, and so much more!”
Throughout Love Weekend, a variety of service opportunities will be hosted so everyone can participate. Project times vary and options are available for individuals to sign up on their own or with a group. Service opportunities are also available for families to serve together with their children, including families of children with special needs.
Examples of opportunities to serve with Liquid Church during Love Weekend are as follows:
- Essex County - Nutley Family Service Bureau (NFSB) - Nutley, NJ: NFSB’s mission is to provide affordable mental health counseling and social service programs to individuals and families. Volunteers will transport food supplies from NFSB’s temporary food storage facilities to a newly renovated food pantry.
- Middlesex County - Town Clock - New Brunswick, NJ: Town Clock Community Development Corporation exists to provide permanent and affordable housing to survivors of domestic violence. Volunteers will help renovate and beautify the organization’s shelter for women and children.
- Morris County - Parsippany Animal Shelter - Parsippany, NJ: In partnership with the Mayor’s office, volunteers will beautify the grounds of the Parsippany Animal Shelter and assist with renovations to the facility. Also in Morris County, back by popular demand Liquid Church will host a FREE Fall Family Festival, where volunteers will serve children, teens, and young adults with special needs. The festival will take place outdoors at the church’s Broadcast Campus in Parsippany, complete with games, activities, food, and entertainment for all ages. Volunteer opportunities for the project vary and include Family Hosts who will accommodate guests’ various needs.
- Somerset County - Arc of Somerset County - Manville, NJ: The Arc of Somerset County provides services and advocacy to individuals with special needs and their families, with the goal to support development and achievement at every age and stage of life. Volunteers will assist guests with a Fall-themed craft, among other themed activities.
- Union County - Together We Rise - Garwood, NJ: Together We Rise is a national organization seeking to improve the lives of children in foster care. Often, children in foster care end up traveling from home-to-home with just a trash bag to carry their belongings. So, volunteers will create “Sweet Cases” by decorating custom duffel bags for local foster care children and stuffing them with a teddy bear, hygiene kit, blanket, and a note of encouragement.
