Man Charged In Parsippany Stabbing Death: Prosecutor

Edilson D. Trejo stabbed a man multiple times with children present, authorities said. Officials ruled it a homicide.

PARSIPPANY, NJ - Edilson D. Trejo, 21, stabbed a man to death, showered, changed and fled the scene of the Parsippany Road crime early Saturday morning, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

According to authorities, Trejo, a resident of the apartment, had a verbal altercation at the home and it is alleged that Trejo used a knife to stab the victim multiple times in the neck and/or torso. Authorities noted that there were two children under the age of 10 at the time of the incident.

After the stabbing, Trejo took a shower, changed his clothes, and fled the apartment but was apprehended by Parsippany-Troy Hills Police, police said.

Trejo has been charged by complaint-warrant with second degree Manslaughter, third degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, fourth degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, third degree Hindering Own Apprehension, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of Children, police said. Trejo was lodged in the Morris County Jail pending a first appearance in court.

The manner of death was ruled a homicide and the identity of the 35-year-old victim will not be released at this time, authorities said.
