MORRIS COUNTY, NJ - Saint Clare's Health welcomed a "leapling" on Saturday as Michael William Felegi came into the world on Feb. 29.

Born to parents Amanda and William on Leap Day, baby Felegi was 7 lbs 7 oz. and 20 inches long. According to officials, the odds of being born on Feb. 29 are 1 in 1,461, or .068 per cent. In the US, the number is just 187,000.

Most countries and territories tend to recognize that a Leap Day baby has legally 'aged' on March 1 of non-leap years. Most of the US follows this, too. Reuters notes that only some states have statues that say which date should be used. For those that don't, the default is March 1. For those that do, it is typically to signify that it is Feb. 28.
