MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Morris became the first county to reach 70 percent of adults fully vaccinated. But what will it take for each town to get to the same mark?

The New Jersey Department of Health set a goal for 70 percent of adults to get fully vaccinated by the end of June. President Joe Biden set the same benchmark nationally for July 4.

The state has reported 282,364 people fully vaccinated in Morris County as of Friday afternoon. But municipal data — provided by the state health department — shows some towns have reached the 70 percent mark, while others lag behind.

Here's the breakdown of what percentage of adults in each Morris County town have received at least one dose and how many are fully vaccinated:

  • Chatham Borough: 97 percent, 88 percent
  • Morris Plains: 94 percent, 86 percent
  • Wharton: 94 percent, 80 percent
  • Chatham Township: 88 percent, 79 percent
  • Mendham Borough: 87 percent, 79 percent
  • Chester Borough: 88 percent, 77 percent
  • Rockaway Borough: 86 percent, 77 percent
  • Parsippany: 84 percent, 75 percent
  • Boonton Township: 83 percent, 75 percent
  • Randolph Township: 81 percent, 74 percent
  • Morris Township: 81 percent, 73 percent
  • Denville: 80 percent, 73 percent

The state needs 4.7 million people fully vaccinated by the end of June to meet its goal. As of Friday afternoon, 4.51 million New Jerseyans are completely vaccinated — children 12-17 are also eligible for the Pfizer shot.

Nationwide, 47 percent of adults 18-64 and 80.2 percent of seniors are fully vaccinated, according to Mayo Clinic.
