Nasty Thunderstorms Predicted, Air Quality 'Unhealthy' in Morris

Temperatures expected to jump Thursday and Friday.

The mercury is rising and so is the unhealthiness of the air quality in Morris County.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are going to spike Thursday and an air quality alert has been issued for sensitive groups.

In addition to that, Morris County is expected to get walloped with thunderstorms late in the day Thursday, the weather service said.

With high temperatures of 90 degrees, thunderstorms may move in to the area between 3 and 7 p.m.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Ozone Action Day, meaning the air quality may be unhealthy for sensitive groups, meaning “individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours.”

Thursday’s air quality index was listed at 102, with Friday’s index projected for 115.
