NO 23 Cent Gas Tax/Price Increase. Hidden loophole allows for sprawl accommodation and bad state planning.
Every reason exist to see it will lead to more unneeded development schemes to accommodate private interest in continued sprawl
Vote No 23 Cents Gas Tax November 8th..
New Jersey the Sprawl State; if Governor Christie has his way will continue. Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno has shined some transparency on what to expect from; what Christie is calling the locked box, fund for transportation. Why the locked box? Number one it allows the State to borrow up to 2-billion more, and because Christie has been unlocking other fund boxes and spending money earmarked for open space and environmental cleanups, for example. The full extent of robbing Peter to pay Paul is not known, but with budget deficits and failure to tax the wealthy along with giving tax incentives to big corporations that benefit even more than they should; helping Exxon escape its responsibility for unnecessary ruination of NJ's ecosystems all contributed to this new scheme of extortion for transportation infrastructure, paid for by the average worker, in an economy that maximized revenues rather than promoted equal distribution of wealth.
As Governor he has worked to undermine environmental advances especially in clean water and good land use. This Gas Tax will exploit the common man to a great extent as driving is a way of life in the State; along with its Grid locks and heavy traffic that ebbs and flows first one direction than the next in the get to work routine. Not setting aside funds for bridge and road repair and allowing overseas priorities to allow federal tax dollars to be spent elsewhere outside the states. Here is the kicker this gas hike will be used to sponsor private development schemes of more bad land use disguised under the coming affordable housing fiasco. NJDEP permitting more unnecessary road projects, widening, lights, sidewalks, sewers that will accommodate this additional sprawl.
So public money will benefit private enterprise; that benefits no definite plan and in the long term only brings ruination to already over developed landscapes destroying more sensitive landscapes.
Vote No 23 cents tax. We are a society made desperate for work; when there is work to be done, instead of being planned or sensitive according to actual need, we are like the devil ready for haste makes waste. State Senate leader Sweeney with his big unions connections should also be criticized for this gangster type tax imposed during austerity that weakens the nation and its people. At least Sweeney is not a Trump Man like the Governor. Don't allow the worse Governor perhaps ever for NJ to pull this off.
Former Governors Byrne, Whitman and Florio are parties to a lawsuit stemming from environmental groups involving Christies totally disregard for Jerseys natural resources and remaining landscapes and most of all clean water, air and long term just worth living in. The Governor has no Love for New Jersey. The Locked Box is because it takes a thief to catch a thief and the Governor has unlocked the box when he saw fit, for things we all voted to keep in the box. His time in office was wasted.
Apparently NJ learned nothing from the Fort Lee Traffic Study. The 23 cent tax legislation has a dangerous loophole we of NJ will not be able to drive through. This man called Governor does not live in the same world or even planet the rest of us do.
