No To Knoll Improvements

Why should tax payers sponsor golf improvements, they should do it themselves are not golfers better off than most of us?

Ordinance 2015-20 Knoll Golf Improvements

It must be asked should Parsippany tax-payers be made to have their resources used for a “golf cliché”.

Although the Township owns the facility along with a private entity, not everyone plays golf therefore why should we all share in the ongoing scheme project started by and administration continuum of a municipal owned golf facility? Golf being a prestige type sport with manicure landscapes as part of their image background of a transformed artificial landscape requiring a beauty salon type treatment of upkeep should have a backing from this class of citizens, willing on their own to provide funding separate from the whole citizens population of tax-payers. This type of ordinance is shall we say predatory in nature taking from all to serve few; a few that have no real need to ask outside the circle of golf enthusiast. It is very similar to taxes being spent on dog parks, when we all are not pet owners and when dogs are just about allowed anywhere anyway or the more blatantly corrupt voter referendums for the construction of sports stadiums. Here is what the ordinance wishes in financial approximations.

Various improvements to and equipment for the Township’s Golf Course and Recreation Utility, including, but not limited to, replacement of the irrigation system at Knoll West, construction of a driving range, drainage improvements, and partial roof replacement at the Banquet Hall, and the acquisition of a mower, a grinder and tractor attachments, and including all work and materials necessary therefor or incidental thereto. Appropriation: $3,006,403, Bonds/Notes Authorized: $2, 856,083,Grants (if any) Appropriated: $ 0.00 Section 20 Costs: $ 260,500 Useful Life: 15 Years.

This brings one to the found money claimed by the BOE of over 2 million dollars of tax payers money, as most of all taxes are for education just about anywhere. So we have artificial turf field being paid for without citizen consent, but by sports fanatics and a sport crazed BOE. This obvious end-run around the voter No referendum “field of dreams” is obvious. In a sense of all fairness the BOE stole over 2 million of our dollars and went ahead anyway with their artificial turf despite all the known health problems, and future costs in maintenance and replacements which will be required.

Now the Golf fanatics are asking for our money. The renegade BOE has already taken would could have been used for this project, and the answer should be no to the Knoll. Perhaps a driving range raised with golfers donations not public money. The sport will continue as knoll is quite a nice landscape, it does not really need these improvements, like we all don’t need to own Cadillac’s. In a landscape not shared mutually but specifically golfers no public tax monies should be allowed. This is not democracy but self-serving special interest. Knoll is a nice place to walk when golfers aren’t around in the winter months. Say No to 2015-20 Knoll improvements. Perhaps we can do the same for the Waterview landscape, as that will affect the quality of life of all of us here and in the region, ruining a neighborhood and destroying more land in a place where water and land are one in the same. What will the Knoll water bill be; or will their bill be passed on to us all denominated secretly within sewage charges, as the last delinquent water bill was for was it $138,000 or $38,000 don’t quite recall? Despite what some official think there is a water deficient and green grass takes lots of water and you can’t eat it...
