Par-Troy Radio Show Puts Focus on Local Business

Weekly podcast is produced by Parsippany's Internet Media Broadcasting.

A new radio program targeted to businesses in Parsippany, Morris County and northern New Jersey is on the air—at least technically.

Tuesday marked the inaugural presentation of "New Jersey Business Radio," an Internet radio program now available on the Web in podcast form with a new episode available every Tuesday.

"I had thought about terrestrial radio at first, but it cost an arm and a leg," said founder and host Chris Curran. "I figured that for the same money, I could buy my own [broadcasting] equipment and do the show as Internet radio."

The show focuses on area businesses and features guests from the private sector who share their success stories and tips on networking, dealing with challenges and best practices.

Episode 001, the premiere podcast, boasted a lively roundtable of area businesspeople discussing networking, the importance of self-esteem in business and other topics. The guests included video marketing specialist Dan Hollis of Rockaway-based Grey Sky Films, Basking Ridge business advisor Cheryl Ellis of Ellis Business Enterprises and Internet radio DJ and producer Doc_South of Augusta.

Curran, a business counselor who does motivational speaking through his organization GOAL ABILITY and wrote the advice book Leap Beyond Your Limits, said the show allows him to bring together his passion for bringing business types together and his love for radio and sound engineering.

The show is produced under his new company, Internet Media Broadcasting, which has a studio in a business building on Route 46 in Parsippany.

"I'm really excited to do this to bring business people together," he said, noting that the show is all about helping people grow their businesses, maximize networking and keep abreast of what's going on in the area business community.

And Curran said "New Jersey Business Radio" is just the start.

"Eventually, I want to live-stream it and have the program run five days a week," said the Pine Brook resident. "And Internet Media Broadcasting will have many more programs than NJBR."

A lot of that depends on finding sponsors for his programs, he admitted, but Curran said he already has one lined up, and a producer is helping him beat the bushes to find more enterprises that want to spread their message on the show.

"I'm feeling really positive about what we can do here to boost businesses in northern New Jersey and make informative, fun radio," he said.

Parsippany Patch Editor Natalie Davis will be a guest on New Jersey Business Radio on Tuesday, Aug. 14. The podcast should be available on the show website after noon.
