Parsippany Cops to Add Extra Patrols for Drunk Driving Crackdown

National initiative to run from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7.

Thanks to a sizeable grant from the Drunk Driving Enforcement Fund, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township police will be adding extra patrols for a two-week crackdown on impaired drivers.

The police department received a $5,000 grant and will be adding approximately 54 patrol hours between Aug. 21 and Sept. 7, the two-week timeframe for the national campaign.

“More than 10,000 people are killed in the United States each year in alcohol impaired driving crashes, and these crashes cost our society nearly $50 billion annually,” said Gary Poedubicky, Acting Director of the Division of Highway Traffic Safety in a statement. “There is a zero tolerance message for this campaign. If drivers are caught operating their vehicle while impaired they will be arrested.”
