Parsippany Dentist Host Boys And Girls Club of Newark at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club

Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Newark had a full day of fun activities at the Yacht Club.

A Parsippany dentist hosted about 25 kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Newark at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club on Aug. 1.

Dr. Michael Grubner, a member of both the Yacht Club and the Boys & Girls Club of Newark Board of Trustees, has organized this trip for the kids for the past six years, NorthJersey.com reports.

The Boys & Girls Club members had a very busy day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Yacht Club. The kids got to swim, go on a water trampoline, take sailboat lessons, go on an antique boat tour, and hear a brief history lesson of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, which is the second oldest inland yacht club in the country.

Each member of The Boys & Girls Club was matched with a junior member of the yacht club to get to know one another, foster friendships, and simply enjoy time with people their age.

"It is a wonderful opportunity for all involved" said Dr. Gruber to NorthJersey.com. "The children from Newark really look forward to this annual trip as it gives them a break from their impoverished city, affording them a glimpse of a different type of lifestyle, which the children from the yacht club all take for granted. It is a learning experience for all the children, and a win-win situation for all”.

Dr. Grubner also founded the free Children’s Dental Center in the Boys & Girls Club of Newark clubhouse, the article reported.

The Dental Center provides oral health screenings and education, dental radiographs, fluoride treatments, sealants, dental fillings, and much more to the members of the Club.
