Parsippany Eyes Westbrook Farms Land to Buy, Preserve as Open Space for $775K

Home and property assessed at $415,400, listed for nearly twice as much.

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Mayor and Council are considering spending nearly a million dollars on a piece of land in town to preserve as open space.

The governing body has proposed an ordinance that, if approved, would give the township the go-ahead to spend $775,000 to purchase about 3.45 acres of land on South Beverwyck Road.

That purchase price, according to the ordinance, includes the sale of land, buildings, and agreed upon personal property and artifacts currently located on the land.

The current owner of the land is Michael Nonio, and includes a three bedroom, three bathroom home on the property. The property is currently listed for $799,000, and was built in 1940, according to zillow.com.

The property was listed for sale in March 2014 for a price of $825,000, but was then raised the following month to $925,000. It has declined in price since. Property taxes in 2014 were $10,805, based on an assessment of $415,400.
