Cpt. Miller was promoted to chief March 1, 2018, replacing Chief Paul Phillipps upon his retirement. Miller entered the position after 26 years with the Parsippany Police Department. He also served eight years with the New Jersey Army National Guard.

“This incredible opportunity is owed to the Parsippany police officers who I’ve worked for and with over the years," Miller said in 2018, "whose leadership, influence and shared job experiences provide the knowledge and ability necessary for me to assume this trust. To Mayor Michael Soriano, your confidence and trust in me is greatly appreciated.”
