Parsippany Reorganizes For 2020 With New Council Leaders

PARSIPPANY, NJ - Tuesday saw the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Council reset the table for 2020 with its Annual Reorganization Meeting.

Republicans Paul Carifi Jr., Michael dePierro, and Loretta Gragnani all took their oaths of office at the meeting with dePierro getting the nod as Council President and Gragnani named Council Vice President.

DePierro has lived in Parsippany since 1965, and he has worked in service to the township for just as long. Over the decades he has worked with and led PTAs, civic organizations, veterans' groups, Republican Party operations and sports clubs.

He was a charter member of Parsippany's Chamber of Commerce and founded the educational anti-drug abuse organization now known as the Municipal Alliance Committee.

He was a member of the local and Morris County boards of education and, among other accomplishments, helped computerize the Parsippany-Troy Hills school system. And he has served on the Township Council for 36 years, where he has been named president or vice president numerous times.

Additionally, dePierro raised three children and worked for Bell Systems for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

DePierro succeeds current council president Carifi who was first appointed in 2011 to fill a vacancy, and was later elected to the seat.

In addition to her four years of experience as a councilwoman, Gragnani was a business owner in the township for 29 years.
