Parsippany Woman Celebrates 103rd Birthday
Angela Recce was honored by the township at a special party at Genesis Troy Hills Center.
Centenarians are few and far between, so when word circulated that Parsippany's Angela Recce was about to turn 103, there had to be a celebration. A special party in Recce's honor was held on Thursday, her birthday, for the residents at the Genesis Troy Hills Center senior residence at 200 Reynolds Ave.
Recce, who was born Angela Caranese on Aug. 9, 1909 in Livonia, Italy, has lived in the township since 1987.
She has spent most of her life as a married homemaker and mother. Over the years, though she never learned to speak English, Recce took part in church groups and activities.

Staffers at the senior residence said Recce has lived there for many years and is often visited by her daughter. They said she enjoys music, religious services and helping care for others living at Genesis.
At the party, Recce and her fellow residents enjoyed the song stylings of a duo called Music Man, along with balloons, cake and treats. At one point, aide Roberta "Bert" Grove even brought the birthday girl to her feet to dance.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a proclamation from Mayor James Barberio to commemorate the milestone.
The attendees, primarily residents and staff of Genesis Troy Hills, appeared to enjoy the music and festivities greatly.
Grove said Recce is loved by all at the residence.
"She is such a sweet lady," she said. "It's great to see her be honored."
Grove said the party was well-deserved
