Parsippany Tree Farm Packs, Donates 300 Trees For Troops
Officials, residents and employees descended on Cerbo Farms Sunday to pack up hundreds of Christmas trees for those serving the country.
PARSIPPANY, NJ - Dozens of volunteers, employees and officials braved the cold decended upon Cerbo Farms and loaded up hundreds of Christmas trees Sunday for donation to those serving the country.
Trees for Troops supplies free trees for active and retired military members, and aims to make the holiday a little easier on troops and their families. This is the second year Cerbo Farms has been involved in the program.
“Last year we had our first year of involvement with 'Trees for Troops.' The organization helps facilitate the donation of Christmas trees to military service members across the country in partnership with businesses like ours," Tyler Cerbo said. "We receive donations for trees from people or businesses and then prepare them from our farm to be sent out of our garden center in Parsippany. In our first year, last year, we were able to donate over 110 trees,” said Tyler Cerbo, who manages sales and marketing for the family business."

Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce told Patch many hands made for light work on Sunday.
"We loaded and tagged more than 300 trees at Cerbo Nurseries in Parsippany on Sunday, and we managed to do it within two hours thanks to an overwhelming show of support from the community. Trees for Troops is a great way to show our support for our enlisted people and their families at this time of year, and it was an honor to be invited by the Cerbo family to participate in the event,” said DeCroce.

Joining the DeCroce on Sunday were members of her staff, friends and family who worked alongside U.S. Representative Mikie Sherill and Parsippany Mayor Michael Soriano.
“Volunteering for our men and women in uniform has always been a tradition in Parsippany, and I am grateful to the Cerbo Family, Fire District 6, Girl Scout Troop 95750, and all of the great volunteers who came out to support Trees for Troops this weekend,” Soriano told Patch.
The volunteers all placed tags on each tree being shipped as other volunteers loaded them on flatbeds and into FedEx trailers.
Cerbo’s Parsippany Greenhouses, a family-owned business since 1913, also operates Cerbo’s Christmas Tree Farm in Branchville and Cerbo’s Hampton Nursery in Newton. Tyler Cerbo, who manages sales and marketing for the family business, organized the event at their Parsippany nursery off Littleton Road. They cut the trees last week at the Branchville farm. Trees were purchased by local businesses and individuals, including the Morris County Clerk’s Office and Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi, also showed up to tag trees.
