Parsippany's Hindu Service Society Celebrates Black History Month

The local Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh chapter got the opportunity to learn Black history.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — The following post comes from the Parsippany chapter of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (Hindu Service Society):

The Parsippany Chapter of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (Hindu Service Society - HSS) celebrated Black History Month on Sunday at the Viraj Dham Temple in Parsippany. Gordon Drewery Jr., minister of the gospel, First Baptist Church, Madison, and his mom Nora Drewery, a licensed social worker, presented a unique and interactive introduction to the history of the African Americans and their journey to the U.S.

They also highlighted the achievement, accomplishments and contributions by the Black community (leaders, inventors, writers, scientists, celebrities, politicians, etc). They emphasized the essence of every human being and how important it is to be proud of who we are. It was a rewarding experience for all the families that attended the event. Children enjoyed the new way of interactive history learning with jokes and fun-filled activities.
