Police Bust Alleged Drug Operation At Parsippany Red Roof Inn

A loaded revolver and illegal drugs were located during a search of "multiple rooms" at the Red Roof Inn on Route 46, police said.

Two men who were allegedly selling heroin and other drugs out of a Parsippany Red Roof Inn were arrested Monday, police said.

James Howell, 44, of Easton, Pa. and Richard Burwell, 46, of East Orange have been charged with multiple offenses, including possession and intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, MDMA and marijuana.

According to police, officers executed a search warrant at the Red Roof Inn on Route 46 around 11:30 a.m. Monday. A loaded revolver and illegal drugs were found during a search of ”multiple rooms,” police said.

The following narcotics were located during the search, according to police: 17 small baggies containing suspected marijuana, 47 glassine folds containing suspect heroin, 44 pills of suspected MDMA, 16 grams of suspected Cocaine, one bag containing 16 grams of suspected marijuana and one bag containing 8 grams of suspected MDMA.

Suspected packaging and weighing equipment commonly used in the packaging and distribution of illicit drugs was also located, police said.

Both Howell and Burwell were charged with the following: Possession and Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession and Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession and Intent to Distribute MDMA, Possession and Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Hollow Point Bullets, Possession of a Firearm While Committing Certain Drug Crimes, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons Prevented From Having One.

The two men are being held at Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail with no 10% option.

Parsippany Police Department’s Narcotics Unit carried out the search warrant along with Parsippany Rifle Team, Parsippany Patrol Officers and members of the Morris County K-9 Unit.
