Police Substation Coming To Western Parsippany

The goal is to increase policing and response times to western Parsippany, including Puddingstone, Glenmont Commons, Powder Mill.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A police substation will open up in western Parsippany, Mayor James Barberio announced on Facebook on Tuesday.

The substation will be located on Gibraltar Drive in the Powder Mill Shopping Center in the Powder Mill section of town. The goal is to increase police coverage in areas such as Puddingstone, Glenmont Commons, Powder Mill, Sedgefield, Glacier Hills and western Parsippany.

Police headquarters is located on Route 46, near the center of town. The two police stations are roughly 12 minutes driving distance away from each other. Barberio did not give a specific date for the opening, but said a lease on the new property has been secured.

“I have been pushing for this since I first started my term as Mayor. As Director of the police department, I had many concerns about response times and saw a significant need to better serve the residents of western Parsippany. I am thrilled to see this finally come to fruition,” Barberio said.

Police Chief Paul Philipps echoed this sentiment, saying the substation would make policing easier.

“The need to effectively police a township of this size has just been simplified by the addition of the Powder Mill police sub-station. I have always supported Mayor Barberio’s efforts to accomplish this and I am happy to see that he has been able to finally get this done," Philipps said.
